Israeli Baseball & the Olympic
By Micah Halpern

I've Been Thinking:

Israel and the United States will face one another in baseball in their opening games at the 2021 Olympic Games in Japan.

Their face-off will be a double elimination which means that you are allowed to lose one game and still compete in the Games.

Israel's baseball team is expected to include former major leaguers Ian Kinsler and Danny Valencia. Current Baltimore Orioles pitcher Dean Kremer is also said to have joined the team.

The fate of baseball in the Olympics has been rocky.

Baseball was dropped from the Olympics after the 2008 Games. It has been brought back this year – but only as a limited run. In the 2024 Paris Games baseball will be dropped again. This sport is expected to be played, once again, when the Olympic Games are hosted in Los Angeles in 2028.
