Israel & the Pfizer
By Micah Halpern
On Sunday, Israelís Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla and it was agreed that Israel will purchase 100,000 doses of the newly approved Pfizer antiviral drug called Paxlovid.
The FDA approved the drug through their emergency use authorization.
Trial tests showed Paxlovid to be extremely effective against COVID, including against the Omicron variant. It reduced death and hospitalizations by 98%.
Talks are also in progress for Israel to purchase large numbers of Merckís new antirviral pill called Molnupiravir. This pill, too, given emergency use authorization by the FDA this past week.
