Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi spoke with Vladimir Putin and pledged support for Russia. Iran also made it illegal for citizens of Iran to criticize Russia. And yet, some brave Iranians went out to protest Russia’s action and many more took to social media to slam Putin and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Iranians are defying their leadership and they are protesting the Russia action. Iranian protestors were celebrated and supported by tweeters from around the world who reiterated the Iranian message - that Putin and Iranian leadership are linked.
