AirBnB Shuts Russia
By Micah Halpern
AirBnB has announced that it is now suspending all operations in Russia and in Belarus.
The company statement announcing this decision reads: "Guests globally will no longer be able to make new reservations for stays or experiences in Russia or Belarus."
Brian Chesky, AirBnB CEO, added that reservations starting on or after April 4th have been canceled. This policy change was announced on Twitter.
This is a small but essential move.
AirBnB is a huge company and travelers have learned to rely on this service when travelling both domestically and to foreign destinations.
Many more US corporations that service Russia and Belarus should be following AirBnB’s move. They, too, must pull out of Russia and Belarus and they must pull out now.
