I've Been Thinking:

It appears that Turkey is preparing for an offensive attack into Syria to strike Kurdish enclaves located there.

So now Russia and Syria are bolstering the border between Turkey and Syria to help prevent that attack from happening.

Turkey already controls a 20 mile buffer zone which they set up in Syria.  The buffer zone’s purpose is to protect the Turkish border from potential Kurdish attacks and cross border strikes.

And now the Turks want to expand their “safe zone” and move it toward the regions of Tal Rifaat and Manbij and several other areas further east.

Russia, which warned Turkey against military escalation in northern Syria, sent Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for talks in Ankara to make the message clear.

Did Erdogan receive the message?  We will soon find out.
