China Condemns Iran's Nukes
By Micah Halpern

Monday March 12, 2007

I've Been Thinking:

It's official.
The Chinese government has officially let it be known that they are anti the Iranian nuclear policy.

Here's what happened:
Until now the Chinese kept their hesitations and reservations and displeasure with Iran behind closed diplomatic doors. There were several small public statements. There wee conversations between diplomats. There were phone calls between leaders.
For about a year now China has been trying to quietly calm the tensions between Iran and the rest of the world.
Now China is starting to increase the pressure on Iran, hoping to prevent a nuclear arms race in the Middle East that will certainly increase the cost of the oil that the Chinese so badly need from Iran.

Here's how they did it:
They put it on a website.
The Chinese have openly, publicly, officially, displayed displeasure with Iran on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Go figure.
