« Fighting in Davos | Main | Israel and Turkey, Again » A New Egypt
By Micah Halpern
Saturday January 31, 2009 I've Been Thinking: Yesterday, we saw a new Egypt. Egypt arrested two armed men outside a tunnel on the Egyptian side of Gaza as they were about to enter the tunnel in order to smuggle in weapons. The Egyptians are searching for seven people, some of whom escaped into the tunnel. Egypt pronounced that Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah was an Iranian agent. The pronouncement came as a response to a barrage of attacks made by Nasrallah during the Israeli operation in Gaza against Hamas. There is no love lost in the Arab world when it comes to Hamas.
