Wednesday February 23, 2011 I've Been Thinking: Libya is an important strategic country. As a leader, Ghadaffi could be persuaded through the proper economic incentives and yet, he was constantly leading the Arabic charge against the West. In his own eyes Muammar Ghadaffi was the Desert King of the Arab World. Libya is a formidable military force to contend with. They have a very serious conventional stockpile of weapons. They traded-in their weapons of mass destruction for respectability and a seat at the international table. Libya is also an economic force. They are the 11th largest exporter of oil in the world and the 18th largest producer. That makes Libya a player in the world market trailing just behind Venezuela.
