By Micah Halpern
Thursday March 8, 2018 I've Been Thinking: An Islamic University in Indonesia has outlawed wearing a full veil burqa. Indonesia is the most populated Muslim country in the world. The State Islamic University in Yogyakarta City on Java Island instituted a policy forbidding women from covering their entire faces. The purpose of the policy is to curb radical Islamic activity on campus. There has been some blow back claiming that this prohibition is a violation of freedom of speech. The irony cannot be lost - those demanding freedom of speech would curtail the speech of anyone who disagrees with them. This university is trying to "put forth the modern face of Islam." What they are really trying to do, in other words, is to curtail extremism. Read my latest book THUGS. It's easy. Just click.
