More than 45,000 people have been killed in the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria, and the toll is expected to soar with some 264,000 apartments in Turkey destroyed and many still missing in the country's worst modern disaster. Within three days the death toll rose from 33,000 to 45,000. The death toll in Turkey stands at 39,672, while neighboring Syria has reported more than 5,800 deaths. Syria's toll has not changed for days. Mosques around the world on Friday performed absentee funeral prayers for the dead in Turkey and Syria, many of whom could not receive full burial rites given the enormity of the disaster. The missing will soon be assumed dead. The numbers will be shocking. Read my latest book THUGS. It's easy. Just click. To reprint my essays contact sales (at) www.featurewell.com Israel's Red South

Bloomberg is reporting that International atomic monitors in Iran detected uranium enriched to levels just below that needed for a nuclear weapon. Bloomberg cited two senior diplomats who confirmed that Iran is enriching uranium levels far higher than permitted. According to the report, the International Atomic Energy Agency is trying to clarify how Iran accumulated uranium enriched to 84% purity — the highest level found by inspectors in the country to date, and a concentration just 6% below what’s needed for a sophisticated nuclear weapon. Iran had previously told the IAEA that its centrifuges were configured to enrich uranium to a 60% level of purity. This is deeply problematic!

The minefield, which was in an area that had been the site of wars between Israel and Syria, was strewn with deadly anti-personnel landmines decades after the hostilities ended. Areas such as this one are all clearly marked - but every year people still wander into them. Inevitably grazing animals get blown up when they, too, wander in. This incident had a happy ending.
