By Micah Halpern
Monday February 27, 2012 I've Been Thinking: An Egyptian court has adjourned the trial of the 43 arrested NGO workers including at least 16 Americans, one of whom is the son of the current US Secretary of Transportation, until April. This is a very positive move. This means that Egypt is not ready to take these people to court and that there is a chance that the entire case will be dropped. According to the charges these NGOs and their employees received illegal funding from outside of Egypt. They are also charged with engaging in political activity outside the purview of their social and community work. And finally, they are charged with not obtaining proper permission papers and licenses for their work. It is still too early to tell, but the situation is looking good. If Egypt wants, they can still turn this into a show trial. If they don't want a show trial, they can just make it all go away. Read my new book THUGS. It's easy. Just click.
