By Micah Halpern
Sunday October 17, 2021 Commemorating the Holocaust is a true challenge. Weinstein, an Israeli, is one of the world greatest violin restorers. He works with his son. One of his greatest projects is collecting and restoring violins from the Holocaust. Weinstein calls this project “Violins of Hope.” The Jewish Federation in Roanoke, VA Jewish held a concert featuring Weinstein-restored violins playing music composed by composers who were murdered by Hitler during the Holocaust. The concert was called “And their Music Lived On.” It was held in the Grandin Theatre in Roanoke, Virginia, in a special show presented by the Roanoke Jewish Federation. In 2014 Germany invited Amnon Weinstein to bring his violins to Berlin to be played by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
